Meet Marilyn: Compassionate Support for Life’s Challenges
Hi, I’m Marilyn Awoyomi, MSW, RSW — a Registered Social Worker and psychotherapist offering online and in-person therapy across Ontario. With over 15 years of experience in addiction and mental health, I specialize in helping individuals and families navigate parenting challenges, burnout, grief and loss, relationship issues, major life transitions, and the impact of addiction within families.
I’m also a mom of two, living in Toronto, who enjoys relaxing with a good book and exploring the outdoors.
My passion for this work grew from a deep desire to understand human behavior, relationships, and resilience. Early in my career, I saw how powerful meaningful connection can be — and how healing happens when people feel truly seen and supported.
At the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), I worked in both the Addictions Program and the Women’s Inpatient Unit, as well as in the Family Addiction Service. In these roles, I provided individual and group therapy, helping clients set meaningful goals, build coping skills, and find stability in recovery. In the Family Addiction Service, I worked closely with family members concerned about a loved one’s substance use, helping them strengthen their own well-being, set healthy boundaries, and improve family dynamics. These experiences deepened my understanding of trauma, recovery, and the unique challenges faced by parents, caregivers, and families.
For the past four years, I’ve been running my own private practice, where I support individuals, couples, teens, and families through life’s most difficult seasons. I work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds, helping them navigate anxiety, burnout, grief, parenting stress, relationship changes, and the ripple effects of addiction in their lives.
In our work together, I offer a compassionate, collaborative space where you can safely explore your experiences, break free from old patterns, and reconnect with your strengths. My approach is culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and tailored to meet you where you are — supporting you toward healing, resilience, and meaningful change.

How We’ll Work Together
Compassion and trust are at the heart of my work. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can share openly, feel truly heard, and be supported with care and respect. Our work together is grounded in trust, collaboration, and a deep commitment to helping you feel empowered and understood.
I take an eclectic, solution-focused approach, drawing on a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to meet your unique needs. Depending on what you’re facing, I may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help reframe unhelpful thought patterns, Family Systems Therapy to explore relational dynamics, or Narrative Therapy to help you reshape the stories you hold about yourself and your experiences. My approach is also trauma-informed, ensuring that therapy is sensitive to past experiences and supports healing at a pace that feels right for you.
I am committed to creating a culturally sensitive and affirming space for every client — one where your identity, history, and lived experiences are respected and honored. Whether you are navigating parenting challenges, burnout, grief, relationship stress, or the impact of addiction in your life or family, my goal is to help you tap into your strengths, break free from old patterns, and cultivate meaningful, lasting well-being.
